These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Ingredily, operated by Ingredily Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales ("Ingredily", "we", "us" or "our"). By creating an account, using our website at www.ingredily.com, or using any of our services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. About the Service
Ingredily is a personalized ingredient transparency and safety platform. The Service allows you to:
- Scan or photograph food and drink ingredient labels using your device camera, or upload images/PDFs of ingredient lists.
- Receive AI-generated, personalized verdicts on whether a product is suitable for you based on the health profile you provide.
- Store your scan history, export scan results as PDFs, and sync your data across devices when signed in.
- Build a health profile covering life stage, medical conditions (e.g. pregnancy, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease), medications, and allergies.
Verdicts are educational and for decision-support only. They do not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
2. Not Medical Advice — Important Disclaimer
Ingredily is not a medical device, healthcare provider, or source of medical advice. All verdicts, scores, warnings, and recommendations generated by the Service are produced by artificial intelligence models and are intended solely as informational aids.
You must always consult a qualified healthcare professional — such as your GP, consultant, dietitian, or pharmacist — before making any decisions about your diet, medication, supplements, or health, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a chronic condition, or taking prescription medication.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any verdict. Ingredient formulations change; always check the manufacturer's current label. We accept no liability for any health outcomes arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service. If you are under 18, you should use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your health profile. You agree to update your profile promptly if your health status, medications, allergies, or life stage changes.
- You may not create multiple accounts for deceptive purposes, nor may you share your account credentials with others.
4. Health Profile and Special Category Data
When you create a health profile, you may provide what UK law classifies as "special category personal data" under Article 9 of the UK GDPR — including information about your health conditions, pregnancy status, medications, and allergies.
By entering this information, you explicitly consent to us processing it for the purpose of generating personalized verdicts. You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your health profile or your entire account. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we protect this data.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security features, rate limits, or access controls.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or extract data from the Service without our express written consent.
- Upload or submit content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, infringing, or otherwise objectionable.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to provide commercial advice or services to third parties without our prior written agreement.
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who violates these provisions, including removing offending content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting violations to law enforcement authorities.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality — including but not limited to software, code, designs, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, video, and the compilation thereof — are owned by Ingredily Technologies Ltd and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of the United Kingdom and other countries.
You retain ownership of the data, images, and content you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). By submitting Your Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any material from the Service except as incidental to your normal use of the Service.
7. Scan History, PDF Exports, and Data Sync
- Your scan history is stored locally on your device by default. If you sign in, it may also be synced to and stored in our cloud infrastructure.
- PDF exports are generated on your device from your locally stored data. We do not retain copies of exported PDFs.
- Cloud sync requires an active account and internet connection. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free sync and recommend you retain your own backups of important data.
- We may impose reasonable storage limits on cloud-synced data. If you exceed these limits, we may contact you to discuss options.
8. AI-Generated Content
Verdicts and recommendations are generated using third-party artificial intelligence services (including OpenAI and Google Gemini). These AI systems may occasionally produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate outputs. We do not manually review every verdict before it is presented to you.
By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept that:
- AI-generated content is provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy or reliability.
- AI providers may process your ingredient lists and relevant health profile flags to generate verdicts. We do not send your identity, email, or name to AI providers. See our Data Processing Information for details.
- We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or consequences of any AI-generated output.
9. Account Termination and Suspension
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the account settings page. Upon deletion, we will remove your profile, scan history, health data, and consent records from our active systems within 30 days, in accordance with our data retention schedule.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to the security or integrity of the Service or other users.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ingredily Technologies Ltd and its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service;
- any conduct or content of any third party on the Service;
- any content obtained from the Service, including AI-generated verdicts; or
- unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ingredily Technologies Ltd and its licensees and licensors, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers, and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to solicitor's fees), resulting from or arising out of: (a) your use of and access to the Service; (b) your violation of any provision of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by Ingredily. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. You acknowledge and agree that Ingredily shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, or services available on or through any such websites or services.
13. Changes to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We may also change, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, including availability of any feature, database, or content. We may also impose limits on certain features and services or restrict your access to parts or all of the Service without notice or liability.
